The
Declaration, adopted by the Members of the executive Board of
WFUCA at the end of the 23rd Session of the Board, must be read
in conjunction with the List of Projects adopted in Vinci, Italy,
where that important session was held, from the 28th of February
to the 3rd of March 2004.
That
is why you will find in this issue of "Confluences"
both those documents, as well as the decisions adopted by the
Board and other information concerning the life of WFUCA. They
attest our fidelity to UNESCO.
More than ever, as you will see, the projects adopted by the Board
are directly linked with the programs of UNESCO and affirm our
unqualified commitment to the Organization. Whether it be the
project "Prevention of conflicts" or "Hanoi, 1000
years of a culture of peace" or those projects concerning
the "Educational Centres in Africa" and "A society
of information", all those activities are messengers of hope
for the concerned communities and, finally, for the prospect of
peace. Let us notice that the list published in that issue is
not an exhaustive one and that each Federation is invited to complete
it by sending its own projects to the Secretariat of WFUCA.
These
local, national, regional or international actions cannot be fully
realized without taking inspiration from the current issues of
UNESCO. That is why we present in the same issue the main magazines
and newsletters published by the Organisation. It is an invitation
to everyone of us to have them in order to complete our projects
successfully.
This informative policy, followed by WFUCA for more than 20 years,
is more necessary than ever: that is why the next issue of "Confluences"
will be completely dedicated to a collection of pedagogical documents,
informative kits and booklets, carefully selected in relation
according to their utility for our world network. It will comprise
a "Guidebook of pedagogic resources" unlike any other
ever assembled.
The
participants in the Executive Board of Vinci strongly reiterated
the need for WFUCA to establish contact among UNESCO Clubs from
different Regions in order to facilitate the exchange of experiences
and, in effect, to unite the "local" and "international"
levels in order to bring to life the motto "Acting locally,
thinking globally". Assuring that every member of a UNESCO
Club become conscious of the universal impact of her or his own
action has always been one of the "raisons d'être"
of WFUCA. It is in that way that we hope to be able to announce,
in a few weeks, the preparation of a World Meeting, next September,
the main theme of which will be "From a society of information
to a society of knowledge". The meeting will also consider
some other items concerning WFUCA, such as the reform of our Constitution,
for which every Active Member has received a questionnaire.
Finally,
that new issue of "Confluences" is also an account of
the necessary link existing between local Clubs, National Federations,
Regional Federations and WFUCA. Between the carriers of projects,
at every level, and WFUCA there is a kind of cooperation, complementarity
and mutual bringing-in of ideas.
And it is that interaction which succeeds so nicely in making
UNESCO's ideals alive on the field, day after day
