It was last 7th of July. In a public square in the heart of Krakow,
huge leaves of white paper were hiding the grass and, free for
children :water, paintbrush, water paint of every colour...and
also some sweats !
All
Sunday morning long, the children were free for " painting
peace " on this wide virgin space. A few hours later there
won't be any white space left. On the edge of this garden, a stage
and some representatives of UNESCO Clubs from Nepal, Costa Rica,
Belarus, Poland, Ukraine, Philippines...proudly testifying that
the same demonstration was held at the same time in their own
country (moreover, more than 20 cities in the world took part
in this event ). As you understood, it was one of the activities
organized by the Polish Federation in cooperation with the local
authorities and the WFUCA (refer to article 5) in the context
of the International Youth Forum. Nobody
can really estimate the impact of this excellent initiative aiming
children and adults as well.
But
we can be sure that this 7th of July the " culture of peace
" went through a new step forward. And other steps have been
done in Beyrouth, Yaoundé and San José -Costa Rica-
during our 2002 regional meetings which are described in the present"
Cyber-Confluences ". More than ever, we keep on building
new roads for peace. Let's hope for some other " 7th of July
" in the future and several other intercultural meetings.
